Sauteed Brussel Sprouts

March 25, 2016 by

Like everyone else I know, I used to HATE Brussel sprouts. Microwaved or boiled until grey and mushy EW! I do par-cook my Brussel sprouts in the microwave and then sautée in a pan until toasty and brown on one side, Delish!

Recipe: For 3-4 people you’ll need:

  • 14 oz Brussels Sprouts
  • 3-4 TBS of butter/olive oil
  • Water
  • S & P

I wash, trim the little end off and slice them in half. Put into a microwave safe bowl with water to cover (they will float a little bit) and cook on high for 5-7 minutes.

Taste one and they should be somewhat tender/soft. Drain them well, pat a paper towel on them.

Heat 2-3 TBS of olive oil and 1 TBS of butter in a pan over medium-high heat.

Add Brussels to the pan making sure some of them are cut side down so they get toasty brown.

DON’T TOUCH THEM for 5-7 minutes until you can smell the nuttiness. then feel free to toss them around in the pan.

Cook until desired doneness approximately 3 more minutes.
